Reviewing the life of John Henry Bonham

Perhaps the most renowned drummer of all time died on Sept. 25, 1980, at 32 years of age. This day will be remembered forever as the day John Henry Bonham dies. Cause of death? Something that shouldn't surprise us. Something that threatens human life every single day. Humanities love of alcohol. Mr. Bonham started drinking early one morning, and drank all the way into the night. After rehearsing that night with his star studded British rock band, Led Zeppelin, he would lay down for sleep and never wake up. John set the bar for all rock drummers to follow after his debut on the scene with Zeppelin's self-titled debut album, "Led Zeppelin". He has invented his own sound, huge, quick bass, powerful snare, and loud cymbals. Playing with such power, Bonham also played with amazing amounts of precision. Never in my life, have I seen any videos where John misses even the most subtle note. He played the drums with such attention to detail. Much of Bonham’s rhythmic vocabulary with Led Zeppelin referred back to the swinging triplet rhythms of the American big bands that he grew up listening to. Incorporating time signatures of 5/4, 6/8, and 7/8, Bonham's new style incorporated into rock and roll, is legendary.
